THANK YOU for accepting the invitation to learn more about our film! Kristy Walker, and I have been working on this since November 2021. My life savings is invested in it, no crew has been paid, and the doc has received my full, daily, dedication for the last 27 months.

WHY JASON? AND WHY ME?
Jason was a friend of mine from Lorain, Ohio. He was (and still is) an instrumental influence on my life. Fans worldwide know him as an indie-rock legend, creative genius, and the haunting songsmith behind the bands Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Company. I got to know him as “J.”
There is a strong chance you supported me (whether you knew it or not) through my long struggle with anxiety and depression. Jason’s insistence that I “just BE an artist” played an enormous role in that healing process. Not TRY to be an artist. Not ACT like one. Just BE an artist. He first shared that wisdom with me when he was a 14-year-old kid.
In 2013, near the pinnacle of his music career, Jason died of alcoholism at the age of 39. That’s what it took to finally hear what he had been telling me all along. His death gave me the courage to see myself as HE saw me. And guess what… I been depression “free” for a decade as a result.
The film is complete. Run time is 92 minutes - a sweet spot for film festivals, and we have submitted to 20 so far. 30 more are in the works. The cast is AMAZING! And screening audiences are RAVING about the film!

FESTIVAL BUDGET OUTLINE
$7,000 - music sync licensing (help get it off of my credit card, please!)
$1,500 - legal fees for licensing and material releases ONLY
$3,000 - Applications to a minimum of 50 film festivals
$5,000 - Festival publicity costs ( bare bones minimum)
$2,500 - Festival promotional items (posters, postcards, & stickers)
$2,000 - to even BEGIN a Marketing Budget beyond social media

That’s $21,000 - Just to APPLY for film festivals.
The festival goal is exposure to distibutors and major funding. Last resort, I’ll conjure some magical path to a PVOD (Paid Video On Demand) mass release. Music rights for distribution costs are astronomical. I’ll ride that horse when the time comes. This is all about simply getting the film out in to the world.
