Thus far the film has been self-funded. The future of “A Jason Molina Story” is hanging by a thread. The goal has never been to make money on this labor of love. Frankly, given the world of film distribution today, paying the crew seems an impossibility, not yet recouping the “investment” in the film. That’s OK. We all just want to see this sweet baby get out in the world for Jason’s family, friends, and fans to enjoy. Hopefully the worst case scenario is a year or two of life on the festival circuit. While the film is nearly complete, even that simple aim is in jeopardy.
